Food and Drink
Like most foodies I like trying out independent food & drink outlets, whether on holiday, or on a simple day/night out. Now for me moving to a new area such as Cambridge will give me the chance to try out such small outlets that are on offer there. Indeed I’ve already started this when I visited Cafe Milano in the city recently. This time I tried out Indian street food restaurant The Tiffin Truck.
One area of the restaurant sector that has taken off over recent years has been Smokehouses. One such venue is smokehouse restaurant chain Red’s True BBQ in Nottingham. Having had very good meals on previous visits to Red’s my expectations were not surprisingly high for this latest visit.
As part of our upcoming move to Cambridge it was only right that we’d checked out what the city had to offer, and come dinner time it was a chance to try out one of Cambridge’s independent eateries, Italian cafe/restaurant by the name of Cafe Milano.
Last year myself and several other local bloggers were invited to a pre-opening event at Bodega Cantina in Derby where we sampled some of the South American chain’s food and drink offerings. Fast forward 1 year and we were once again invited to the Sadler Gate venue, this time to try out some of the dishes being offered on Bodega’s new menu.
After what turned out to be a disappointing result in the football (Derby drew 1-1 with Norwich) and then enjoying the obligatory post-match beers it was time for food. We could have had a Chinese takeaway but in the end we decided to call in at Japanese restaurant chain Yo Sushi at Derby’s Intu Centre.
One Saturday in January 2018 we decided (needed) to make a trip to East Midlands Designer Outlet, and then decided to have a bite to eat. Among the small array of takeaway joints there is a sit-down restaurant at the shopping outlet, this being Pizza Express, so we settled upon this option.
After a long New Years Day 2018 watching the football and consuming post-match pints we headed off to find a restaurant open that evening for dinner. Several restaurants were closed but thankfully a few were open including Japanese chain Wagamama.
