Restaurant Review – The Tiffin Truck, Cambridge

Like most foodies I like trying out independent food & drink outlets, whether on holiday, or on a simple day/night out. Now for me moving to a new area such as Cambridge will give me the chance to try out such small outlets that are on offer there. Indeed I’ve already started this when I visited Cafe Milano in the city recently. This time I tried out Indian street food restaurant The Tiffin Truck.

Cambridge Beer Festival 2018

Having visited Derby’s beer festivals over recent years I’ve always wanted to visit such an event elsewhere, and in May 2018 I finally got the opportunity to do so when I visited the Cambridge Beer Festival.

Restaurant Review – Red’s True BBQ, Nottingham

One area of the restaurant sector that has taken off over recent years has been Smokehouses. One such venue is smokehouse restaurant chain Red’s True BBQ in Nottingham. Having had very good meals on previous visits to Red’s my expectations were not surprisingly high for this latest visit.

Bodega Derby Bloggers Event

Last year myself and several other local bloggers were invited to a pre-opening event at Bodega Cantina in Derby where we sampled some of the South American chain’s food and drink offerings. Fast forward 1 year and we were once again invited to the Sadler Gate venue, this time to try out some of the dishes being offered on Bodega’s new menu.

On 16th February 2018 I joined several fellow bloggers in the East Midlands for a special event at independent dessert shop Dolcino in Nottingham, where we would sample a selection of sweet treats that are made by the shop.

Restaurant Review – Yo Sushi, Intu Derby

After what turned out to be a disappointing result in the football (Derby drew 1-1 with Norwich) and then enjoying the obligatory post-match beers it was time for food. We could have had a Chinese takeaway but in the end we decided to call in at Japanese restaurant chain Yo Sushi at Derby’s Intu Centre.

Restaurant Review – Pizza Express, East Midlands Designer Outlet

One Saturday in January 2018 we decided (needed) to make a trip to East Midlands Designer Outlet, and then decided to have a bite to eat. Among the small array of takeaway joints there is a sit-down restaurant at the shopping outlet, this being Pizza Express, so we settled upon this option.

Restaurant Review – Wagamama, Intu Derby

After a long New Years Day 2018 watching the football and consuming post-match pints we headed off to find a restaurant open that evening for dinner. Several restaurants were closed but thankfully a few were open including Japanese chain Wagamama.
